Heart Struck + Sunday Love Tunes

So, I'm distressed to find out that Playlist.com doesn't embed music players anymore! I'll have to find another site to make the Sunday Love Tunes segment on. For now, if you can visit the love-song playlist by clicking here.

I did, however, find a great heart necklace and some awesome cufflinks to share! I think a lot of people forget about anniversaries when they get engaged and get so caught up in planning for the "big day," but you can't forget about the special dates that made the wedding possible. If you're approaching a year anniversary or simply a month anniversary, it may be a nice token just to remind your future spouse that you remember the little things.

Doily Lamp DIY

I am so in love with this doily lamp DIY from the Dos Family blog!

I really think a vintage wedding reception would look phenomenal with these lampshades. It would mean a little work, but maybe with some practice it wouldn't be too hard to achieve, especially if you're having a backyard wedding!

p.s. Happy weekend everyone!

Handmade Wedding Albums

I ran across Cypress Albums yesterday and fell in love with the company that creates handmade wedding albums that are awesome. Joe and I have a lot of great photographs from our big day, but we still haven't put them together in an album. I think it's something a lot of couples put off doing, but I'm really considering getting one made from Cypress Albums now that I've discovered them!

I love wedding companies that have great stories behind them, and I really think that the story behind Cypress Album is what makes it so special. You can view their story in the video to the right.

These wedding albums are also a great gift idea!

Blusher Veil

I just saw this blusher veil by Serephine on the front page of Etsy and I had to share it!

It's so romantic and foxy!

Are you into blusher veils? Or do you prefer a longer veil?

Makeably: Custom Wedding Items

(photo credit: Custom wedding cake toppers)

There's a great new website on the rise: Makeably, a website dedicated to custom items, and I absolutely love it! It's new, so there's only a handful of wedding custom items to choose from now, but those that are already set up, are pretty awesome. I'm especially in love with the custom wedding cake toppers, handmade by Danielle Seung Mee de Luna!

I can definitely see this growing into an amazing source for brides that want to have handmade custom items for their big day, so make sure to at least bookmark the website and return to it when you're ready.

If you see a project you're interested in now, make sure not to wait till last minute to communicate with the creator and get started on your custom item, since it'll most likely take a little while to coordinate.

What do you think of Makeably?

I am absolutely in love with this red dress, perfect for your maid of honor to stand out in! It's the Alicia dress from Suite, designed by Jennifer Diederich, and made out of silk wool. I love the vintage feel of it, and its open back.

Three Non-Traditional Engagement Rings

Even if you're a twin, you're unique in the world. No one is like you. So should you have an engagement ring that hundreds if not thousands of people might have? I think not. I absolutely love my engagement ring because I know not many people have this lovely hexagonal ring by New York jewelry designer Satomi Kawakita.

If you're looking for an uncommon and unconventional, but lovely handmade engagement ring, these are three great choices:

1. Cognac Diamond Ring

2. Rose Sapphire Ring

Inspiration Board #32: Forest Fall

Are you having a forest fall wedding? As soon as I saw the rhinestone headpiece by Twigs & Honey I knew that I wanted this inspiration board to be forest themed. Maybe you wouldn't necessarily think of having a forest wedding, but imagine it! Lights, and paper lanterns hanging from trees, rustic settings, a bride that looks elfin, birds chirping during the ceremony! I think it sounds pretty darn romantic. If you're convinced, and ready to take the forest wedding leap, below are some great handmade items to get you started.

The Internet & Looking Ahead to Winter

Finally! Internet that works well! I'm so excited. The past week has been an incredible pain because it took over an hour (and tons of patience) to put together a single post due to a faulty internet connection! But alas! It's fixed, hopefully permanently.

If this EVER happens to you while you're doing wedding research, check out your local bookstore like Barnes & Noble. You can get a cup of coffee or tea while you look through their collection of wedding magazines. I did this a few times while I was planning my wedding. I simply took photographs with my phone of any ideas that I saw that I liked instead of purchasing a magazine for only a couple useful pages.

It's going to officially be fall in twelve days, but for those if you that will be having a winter wedding, I'm sure you're looking ahead. And so am I. One of the main reasons, of course is to have ideas for all seasons. But another is that I love, love, love winter weddings! I found this winter wedding treasury on Etsy, by home decor shop owner Jillian, with fabulous items. To view all sixteen finds, click the image below.

Your Pup at Your Wedding

Do you have a pup in your life you're going to want to be present at your wedding? I think if Joe and I had a dog, we would have wanted him or her to be right there with us on our big day. If you feel like this, but you've thrown the option of getting a doggie tux or bow-tie out the window, this may be the option for you. I really loved this idea; he or she, well, kind of beautiful instead of just plain silly in a full-body doggie costume. What do you think?

Autumn Wedding DIY Ideas

There's only a couple of weeks left for autumn to officially start! Is anyone else as excited as I am? There is something so warm about autumn weddings. Maybe it's the idea of fire pits and roasting marshmallows or long-sleeved wedding dresses that sounds enticing, but I almost find myself wishing Joe and I had gotten married in autumn!

I love this pumpkin DIY table decor idea.

Others:

Made from scratch S'mores.

Rustic DIY ring box.

Barrels reception decor.

Table numbers stamped on sack cloth bags.

Burlap utensil holders.

Soda/beer pumpkin tub.

Pumpkin ceremony decor.

Real Weddings: Detzaira + Nathan

One of my friends from high school got married a couple weeks ago in Half Moon Bay. The threatening clouds looming over the coast dissipated by the time we reached the ranch venue where the wedding was taking place. I was stoked that the day turned out to be filled with sunshine and warmth; it was a perfect day for a Mexican-themed country wedding.

It was a beautiful set up and I knew that I would have plenty to share with you all! The following are some of the photographs that Joe and I took throughout the day. I loved all the fun little details from the colorful and white paper banners to the marshmallow station to the delectable cuisine. The food was phenomenal! They served authentic Mexican tacos in small corn tortillas that were just delicious. It was definitely a wedding that added a Mexican twist to a farm/ranch style event, and there are lots of handmade ideas to take in. I also loved their wildflower bouquets and wedding table arrangement. Oh, and their chairs were awesome!

p.s. A big congrats to Detzaira and Nathan!

Ooo Pretty Ring

I think an "Ooooooo" literally ran through my head when I saw this delicate and lovely 14k rose gold diamond wedding ring from Adzia. It's a lovely color that might be hard to match, so you'll most likely have to shop for all of your wedding rings here. But she also offers, this, awesome engagement ring, that's also "Ooooooo"-inspiring.

P.S. What color is your engagement ring?
